SATURDAY/SUNDAY, APRIL 17th-18th

SPORTS HALL, COASTAL ACADEMY, PATHFIELDS ROAD, CLACTON

 

This is your opportunity to take part in the League’s premier event, which is played at an excellent venue.  Both days are well organised, with events for players of all ages and standards. These Championships remain popular with many players, but we would still welcome the support of more league members   Please enter at least one event and encourage others in your team to do so.   All members will be made most welcome. 

ENTRY, ENTRY FEE AND ELIGIBILITY : Please read the instructions on the enclosed entry form.  

CLOSING DATE FOR ENTRY : Monday, 22nd March 2010. 

PROGRAMME : All entrants will receive a programme before the weekend advising more precise times of play.

Scheduling is never simple, but can be more precise after we know how many entries we have received for each event. 

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY : All players will be expected to arrive at their table promptly when called to play. 

Pre-match knock-ups should normally be limited to 2 minutes. Players will be expected to umpire when requested to do so.  White shirts, shorts etc will not be permitted. 

REFRESHMENTS  :  Snacks and hot & cold drinks will be available throughout both days.           

EVENTS FORMAT  

Mens Singles and Junior Singles – Groups of 4 initially, however some top players may be excluded from the groups.

Ladies Singles – By choice, groups of 3 or 4 initially, subject to the number of entries.

Ladies Doubles/Mixed Doubles – timings may change considerably depending upon the number of entries.

Veterans Singles – see entry form.

Saturday events –we must vacate the premises by 7pm, even if some events have not been completed, in which case we shall do our utmost to accommodate the needs of those players who are involved.  Not normally a problem.

Sunday events should  provide no timing problems, but again, we must vacate the premises by 7 pm.

The Tournament Committee reserves the right to cancel any event which they consider has insufficient entries. 

FINALS:  Saturday events finals will take place late Saturday afternoon. Sunday events finals will take place late Sunday afternoon.  Trophies for all events (both Saturday & Sunday) will normally be presented at the finals session on Sunday.  All finalists should wear shorts (skirts for the ladies if they so wish) or tracksuits. 

SPONSORSHIP:  We are most grateful to again have the support of our main sponsor. Paul Newbould has for many years provided us with the financial support to enable us to play our tournament at an excellent venue, & enabled us to organise the programme of events we wish to provide.  However, we still wish to attract sponsors for individual events, and Peter will be pleased to hear from anyone who is willing to sponsor the purchase of trophies for an event at a cost of between £15 & £40, depending upon the event.
